Best Etiquette Guidelines
Check all that apply:
____You agree to be kind and compassionate (kindness + empathy) to others
____You agree to be transparent (genuine and honest) to others.
____If "caked" (ie. you "match" with someone), you agree to respond to an email telling me a bit more about yourself and a 5-minute "screening" phone call.
____If "caked" (ie. you "match" with someone), then there should be honest and kind communication if it doesn't work out. NO GHOSTING without accountability!
____If the first few rounds of texting between both CAKEd parties appear safe and tenable, then you two agree to meet in a mutually agreed upon public place for the first meeting. I suggest getting cake.
Best Possible Self (Dating)
Try this exercise first before contacting your special cupcake. This is from Positive Psychotherapy (but I'm modifying it for dating purposes):
Take a moment to imagine your life in the future. Consider what type of relationship you want to find. What is the best possible self you can imagine when meeting new people? What values are important for you when dating? What would happen in your future if you imagined the best case scenario and embraced your values?
For the next 15 minutes, write continuously about what you imagine this best possible future to be. We encourage you to focus on the future—imagine a brighter future in which you are your best self and your circumstances change just enough to make this best possible life happen. Be as creative and imaginative as you want, and don’t worry about grammar or spelling.
Here is the original exercise: Best Possible Self
Intentionality
The Best Possible Self exercise is both a journaling, reflective and visualization exercise to help us intentionally reorient our minds and mindfully choose what we represent and how we want to represent ourselves. Good Luck!
