Our Relationship with Ourselves

How do we balance humanness while navigating technology?

We do it by identifying our core values and grounding ourselves in our authentic identities.

I just lost the entire class (except the front row- who is staring at me out of politeness) again... didn't I?

If we know ourselves well, then we can intentionally choose to hold onto values close to us- regardless of what society says or does to us.

This means that Apple can upturn my world every 1.5 months by "updating" my phone and I can play into the dehumanizing game of swiping peoples' pictures but still remain a human being by staying intentional of how I connect with others.. whether it's via online dating or whatnot.

For instance, if a value of yours is to be honest, then lead with honesty even though everyone's pictures are filtered and have cat ears (why?). Empower yourself in your truthfulness and know you are honoring yourself when you uploading those unfiltered, raw, honest photos that YOU like.. not what others might like.

If someone decides to swip (left?) because they didn't like a 2d picture, then that person ultimately doesn't share the same values system as you (or they prioritize the value differently).

Your relationship with yourself matters more than the dating presence and profile. Honor yourself by intentionally choosing to represent yourself authentically. This helps sets the tone and intention for what's to come next.
